Hermawan Kartajaya is an Indonesian marketing expert. He has served as President of the World Marketing Association and was named 50 Gurus Who Have Shaped the Future of Marketing by The Chartered Institute of Marketing based in the United Kingdom.
He is also currently the Chairman of MarkPlus, Inc, an Indonesia-based management consulting company that he started in 1990. Kartajaya was educated at the University of Indonesia.
Kartajaya studied Electrical Engineering at the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology but had to drop out due to economic problems. In 2010, ITS Surabaya conferred Doctor Honoris Causa, the first in history, to Hermawan Kartajaya for his achievements in world marketing science.
Kartajaya actively writes books about the world of marketing. Kartajaya is the first Indonesian to enter the realm of international marketing with his own model. He is a unique combination of a strategic business mind in the field of marketing and a practitioner.
