The Golden Age of Esports in Southeast Asia

While China is the world’s biggest market for esports, Southeast Asia has gained tremendous momentum in recent years to become the fastest growing region globally. 

As the region offers an exciting and ever-growing user base of digital natives, Fortune Times spoke with Cao Yu, Managing Partner of Tembusu Frontsight Capital Fund to discuss what the future holds for esports in Southeast Asia. 

Cao believes that the Southeast Asian esports market is at the cusp of entering a golden age thanks to its robust gaming infrastructure and the rollout of 5G networks. However, in order to truly succeed and amplify reach in the region, investors should pay close attention to companies that are able to localize and adapt to the diverse and distinct cultures in the Southeast Asian countries, taking into account language barriers and different mobile usage habits.
